Impact of Your Generosity

Through your generosity, the 2022 – 2023 Annual Fund raised more than $892,000 to benefit our students.

The Annual Fund directly impacts faculty and students year-round by helping provide a robust learning experience that allows students to discover their talents and participate in opportunities that foster personal expression, creative thinking, and character building.

Thanks to our community's generosity to the Annual Fund last year, we were able to:

  • Provide innovative learning in all divisions for students to engage, collaborate, and develop their ideas into reality.
  • Extend students’ education beyond the classroom to experience hands-on learning and explore new experiences.
  • Develop inclusive and inspiring programs that allow students to discover their talents and participate in experiences that foster personal expression, creative thinking, and character building.
  • Offer scholarships and tuition assistance to help make a Bear Creek education accessible to more families and create an inclusive community that enriches our students’ experiences.
  • Grow programs such as parent education opportunities, Mothers Tea, Evening of Artists, and Grandparents Day that build values and strengthen family and community bonds.
  • Secure the school's greatest needs and continuous campus improvements.

Additionally, your gift also helped to provide more than $2.5 million in scholarships and financial aid, helping to make a Bear Creek education accessible to more families and create an inclusive community that enriches our students’ experiences.

We truly cannot do it without you and your gift. Each of us plays a unique role in our students’ lives, but the impact that we can make collectively is immeasurable. Together, our community is making a positive impact on each student’s life, every day. We are grateful for your generosity to The Bear Creek School.

The Annual Fund is our most important source of revenue after tuition and an important indicator of community satisfaction to larger donors and the broader community. Annual giving to Bear Creek provides a vital flow of unrestricted support for programs that go above and beyond what your tuition covers.

The Annual Fund directly impacts faculty and students year-round by helping provide a robust learning experience. Every fall, all members of our community—parents, faculty, staff, trustees, parents of alumni, grandparents, and friends of Bear Creek—are invited to make a meaningful, tax-deductible gift to the Annual Fund.

These gifts empower teachers to guide, support, and inspire students in extraordinary ways through innovation, connection, and creativity. The impact to Bear Creek is evidenced by a robust learning experience that enriches and amplifies each child’s education and offers students opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, provides students with resources and space to develop artistic and athletic talents, and allows parents to strengthen family and community bonds.

The impact of participation is valued beyond the dollars. Participation with any size gift demonstrates a commitment to Bear Creek, the mission, and to the school's continued success. It is a vote of confidence in our faculty, too. The broader community and major donors look to fundraising participation as a key indicator of satisfaction. If the community stands behind their school, they help elevate Bear Creek as more deserving of support from these influential donors as well.

This year’s Gratitude Gala celebrated The Bear Creek School and its libraries with a weeklong online auction and an in-person dinner and live auction event. Held once again at the Overlake Country Club, we brought together more than 200 Bear Creek parents, faculty, and friends of the school to celebrate Bear Creek in a festive atmosphere.

Proceeds from the gala help fund The Bear Creek School today, tomorrow, and into the future, with proceeds dedicated to a specific project each year. Through your generosity, the 2023 auction raised more than $635,000 to turn Bear Creek libraries into incredible literacy and learning centers that provide physical and intellectual access to the resources and tools required for learning, inspiring, cultivating, and strengthening minds in a warm, stimulating, and welcoming environment.

Gratitude Gala funds enabled us to transform the main campus libraries into vibrant literacy centers that foster a love of reading in our students. On opening day students entered the libraries with wide eyes, big smiles and exclamations of delight.

New furniture, modern lighting, updated flooring, moveable bookshelves, and colorful murals create an environment intentionally designed for flexible use and inspired learning. The tree house in lower school is a highlight, and students love exploring the variety of seating in both libraries. With our cozy reading cubbies, cushions, egg chairs, rocking chairs, bucket chairs and squishy chairs all students can find a comfortable place to curl up with a book. The tables can be configured for collaborative activities, individual work, or group instruction, all designed to encourage creative and innovative thinking.

All four libraries benefited from technology improvements such as self-check-out stations and large, engaging interactive kiosks that allow students to efficiently select and check out books. With the addition of low shelving, book browsers, interactive maps, and colorful signage to assist with wayfinding, even the youngest students can find just the right book.

We consistently hear delight in student voices as they describe the library as their favorite place for writing, reading with big buddies, and visiting to browse after school. “I love coming to the library” is a common refrain!

This incredible annual event would not be possible without generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure from our community. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Advancement Committee and Gala Committee for their dedicated efforts, parents, students, teachers, staff, gala partners, and gala sponsors: Cornerstone General Contractors; Custom Pavers & Design; Armada Design & Build; and Butler & Butler Real Estate. Your support allowed this event to happen. Thank you!
