What is a Silent Auction and How Does It Work?

After a flurry of volunteer activity during the day, the doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for bidding on the Silent Auctions. You will pick up your registration packet with your bid number and table assignment and start bidding on items that interest you. Your catalog will be available the week before so you will have had plenty of time to mark those goodies with Post It notes. The catalog will also be posted on this website.

There are different Silent Auctions sections. Each will offer great items for your perusal. At each item is a bid sheet with an opening bid, various dollar amount increments and the Guaranteed Bid at the bottom. If you absolutely must take that item home with you, merely enter your bid number at the space next to the Guaranteed Bid amount and you have purchased it. Otherwise, enter a bid and keep an eye on it to make sure no one else's bid tops yours. Silent Auction sections close first with Unique to Bear Creek and the Fine Wine sections closing just before guests move into the ballroom for dinner and the Live Auction.

Is a Live Auction like a Cattle Auction?

As soon as all the guests are seated, the prayer offered and first course served, our auctioneer will launch right into the Live Auction. You won't hear all that fast talking that no one can understand. You will hear the description of the item that is being auctioned and see its image on the big screen.

There are all kinds of treasures to appeal to all kinds of folks – classroom art projects, getaways to great destinations like Las Vegas, Leavenworth, Hawaii, and Orcas Island, for families – special items for kids of all ages. And that is just a sampling; there are also sports tickets, and much more.

Sit back and enjoy your gourmet multi-course meal as you are entertained by the enthusiastic bidding of the guests. Midway through the Live Auction we will raise the paddle for the Fund-A-Need!

Once all of the Live Auction items have been sold and you have enjoyed your dessert and coffee, proceed to collect your items, then head to the after-party and celebrate the families and friends of Bear Creek coming together as a community in fellowship and fundraising.

Best of Live

This is your chance to participate in the fun of the auction, even if you cannot attend. Purchase your ticket at the front desk of any building in early March for your chance to win any item from the Live Auction catalog. When you buy the ticket, you will be asked to choose the item you want. Tickets are $100 each, and only 100 will be sold. The winning ticket will be drawn right before the live auction. You need not be present to win.
