Hello Grizzlies Fans,

What a week it’s been, and it’s not even over! We have seen some exciting playoff action, and it all continues into the weekend. Come on out and cheer on our Grizzlies. Don’t forget, if you want live updates during the upcoming State Tournaments (baseball, golf, and track), make sure to follow us on Instagram @BCGrizzlySports or on Twitter @BCGrizzlySports. You'll find a recap in The Bear Facts on Fridays.

Baseball: The Growls played a spectacular game against South Whidbey HS last Saturday, May 11, at Sehome HS in a winner-to-State match, ultimately beating the Falcons (5-2). Down 1-2 in the fifth inning, senior Jon Campbell singled, allowing two runners to score what turned out to be the winning runs! The Growls dropped the afternoon seeding game vs. University Prep and now play Bellevue Christian in the first round of the 1A State Tournament on Saturday, May 18 at Franklin Pierce HS in Tacoma. Game time is 1:00 p.m. If the Growls win, they will play a second game (quarterfinal match) at the same location.

Golf: Of course, our golfers picked the one day in the last two weeks to play golf in the rain! Yesterday, May 14, four Grizzlies competed in the 1A Bi-District Golf Tournament and despite the weather, the results were terrific. The boys team placed third as a team, and seniors Oliver Nordberg (92) and Jon Campbell (93), along with freshmen Aaron Moore (81) and Beatrice Archer (103) all advanced to the 1A State Golf Tournament taking place next Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21-22, in Olympia. Congratulations, golfers. Good luck at State!

Girls Tennis: The girl’s tennis team sent six representatives to compete in the Emerald City League Championships last Friday at the Amy Yee Tennis Center in Seattle. Congratulations to seniors Melanie Carlson and Kathryn Horvath, junior Sharon Lyu, sophomores Grace McBride and Madison Jones, and freshman McKenna Mullet who qualified for the tournament. Melanie and Grace won their first doubles match of the day before falling to a talented team from Seattle Academy. McKenna played singles and battled in a 3-set three-hour slugfest, coming up just short. In all, the girls competed hard and admirably. There were so many positives to take away from the season, and we’re super proud of them all!
