We share your concerns about the rapidly evolving and expanding global novel coronavirus (now named COVID-19). At this time, there are no cases of Covid-19 at The Bear Creek School nor any student, faculty, or staff with symptoms. As we continue to monitor and respond to the situation, we request your partnership in keeping everyone in The Bear Creek School community healthy and minimizing the spread of infectious disease. To facilitate this goal, if you have traveled to a country the CDC has designated with a travel warning level 3 (China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy) in the last 14 days or have symptoms of fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please do not enter the buildings on campus. We recognize that we must each do our part, individually and collectively, to provide the safest possible environment for our Bear Creek community.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have instituted a more proactive policy for sending home students who display any signs of illness. Faculty have been instructed to immediately refer students who feel ill to the school nurse, and the nurse will be in contact with you to pick up your student promptly. Please refer to the Health Policy for more details on when your child should stay home from school. When you pick up a sick student you will be given written information with guidance about how long your child should remain at home. We ask that you have proper equipment at home (thermometer) to monitor for fever and other symptoms of illness. Please be sure that your emergency contact information on the Parent Portal is up to date. Further, the CDC recommends that parents make childcare arrangements in advance, should your child need to be out of school for an extended period due to illness.
Additionally, please remind your children about the importance of reading and using social media responsibly. There is a great deal of misinformation on social media platforms that may alarm or mislead your child or others. You can find accurate, up to date information on webpages set up by the CDC at Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the Washington State Department of Health at Novel Coronavirus Outbreak 2020.
We will continue to communicate frequently about the school’s response, and you can find additional resources posted on our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information page.
May you be encouraged by 2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
He is able. Amen!
