Most of you have no doubt heard that public school districts in the Seattle and Eastside areas have decided to begin the school year in a fully remote learning environment. At this time, we are still planning to reopen under the Bear Creek Choice plan, allowing families to choose either on-campus instruction or remote learning for their children, with the ability to move between these options based on individual family circumstances. We are carefully balancing the health and safety of our school community with the educational needs of our students. We believe our current plan allows us to fulfill our mission as safely as possible.
School leadership continues to evaluate the situation weekly in light of our internal priorities and our mission, while also staying abreast of the data regarding the spread of COVID-19 in King County and the broader community, as well as relevant public health guidance. As always, we strive to be as transparent as possible and communicate with you regularly between now and the beginning of the school year. If circumstances change, we will certainly let you know as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I invite you to listen to the most recent Town Hall recordings (see links below) and look for an upcoming Frequently Asked Questions page on our website that may address additional concerns.
Now and always, it is good to remember that we do not face these challenges alone and we do not journey in fear. In Isaiah 41:10, the Lord reminds us that He is sovereign,
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Grace and peace,
