Dear Bear Creek community,
I am delighted to share with you that the key indicators we have been tracking for COVID-19 spread in King County as well as our local Eastside communities continue to trend downward. Cases have declined into the “moderate risk” category, test positivity remains below 5%, and hospitalizations continue to be low. As a result, we have decided to move to Step Two in our Step Start Plan, effective Monday, September 21.
In Step Two, Preschool students will resume a regular schedule of half-days on campus, Lower School students will have two full days per week on campus, and grades 5 – 12 will be on campus one full day per week, with the remaining days still in remote-learning modality. Please review MyBC/Parents (see Daily Schedules tab) for specifics regarding when your child's grade level will be on campus and note the important information about on-campus lunch service. Additional details will be forthcoming from your child’s Division Head later this week.
As always, with Bear Creek Choice, your child may continue participating in remote learning only, if you prefer.
As we transition to Step Two, please continue to adhere to guidelines for social distancing, face coverings, and limited mixing of cohorts both within the school as well as in the broader community. We encourage you to continue to follow these guidelines to help us minimize the possibility of having to isolate cohorts or even close the school to on-campus learning if there is an increase in COVID-19 cases or exposures.
Thank you for partnering with us, especially these last few months as the situation has continued to evolve, and for persevering as a community of faith to accomplish the mission of The Bear Creek School. As we take this next step in our return to campus, may we be encouraged to recall Paul’s words to the Church at Corinth and remember the Lord’s faithfulness and provision:
“He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:8
Grace and peace,
