The Bear Facts

This summer, we are offering a variety of sports, arts, and STEM camps, running June 15 through July 3, in three one-week sessions, for students who will be in grades K – 12 next fall. Camps are open to the public. Browse camps and register your child for Summer Camp 2026!

Congratulations to the 43 Upper School students who have been selected for membership and inducted into The Bear Creek School Chapter of the National Honor Society. These new members applied and were selected based upon careful consideration of each student's scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Read more for a list of new members. 

Students interested in playing an Upper School fall sport next year (boys tennis, boys golf, girls soccer, girls volleyball, and boys and girls cross country) must attend the interest meetings scheduled for Friday, April 24. Locations will be posted at school.

Students will meet coaches and learn about summer practice, tournaments, open gym schedules, gear orders, and other season details. Attending a meeting does not commit you to play, but all students who are considering a fall sport should plan to attend. 

The spring semester late work deadline for grade 12 students is Tuesday, April 21. Seniors will have until the end of the school day to submit outstanding assignments.

Bear Creek's chapter of the National Honor Society will hold an induction ceremony for new members on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Marilyn R. Nagel Commons. Seniors will be honored, and friends and family are invited to attend!

Senior class final exams will take place from Monday, April 27, through Friday, May 1, during regular class periods. Friday, May 1, is the last day of classes for seniors. After May 1, seniors are only required to be on campus to attend their AP classes and sit for scheduled AP exams, administered on campus between May 4 – 15.

Tuesday, April 28, is the final dress uniform day for seniors. On this special day, seniors may decorate their uniform items. Many students choose to embellish their uniforms with college colors and letters as a way to celebrate what lies ahead.

Middle School students are invited to Neon Night, a high‑energy social filled with games, food, and fun activities. The event will take place on Friday, April 24, in the Main Commons and gym. Grades 5 – 6 will attend from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by grades 7 – 8 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. To add to the fun, students are encouraged to wear all white and/or bright neon colors to school as part of a special dress day. Get ready to glow! This is an event our Middle School students will not want to miss, and we are excited to celebrate together! Please be sure to RSVP by Friday, April 17.

Grade 2 parents are invited to join us in the Kindel Library on Thursday, April 16, from 2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. to meet with Lower School Dean of Students Tracy Whitfield and Associate Division Head Amanda Gratton to discuss some of the social and developmental changes to navigate in grade 3.

Lower School dads are invited to join their children for fun, fellowship, coffee, and donuts on Friday, April 17, from 8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. Please come for an interactive activity on the playground and a visit to your child's classroom for coffee and a donut. If you have more than one child in grades K – 4, you are welcome to visit each child's classroom in this open-house–style event. Donuts and coffee for dads will be available in the hallway under the stairs.

Families with children in grades 4 – 6 are invited to attend A Guide to Growing Up classes on Saturday, April 18. Presented by Bear Creek’s health team, these classes are taught from a Christian worldview and designed to help children understand the how, when, and why of puberty in a comfortable, age-appropriate setting and offer parents helpful tools for navigating conversations at home. Space is limited. Register online ($30 per child) for the mother/daughter (10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) or father/son (12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) gender-separated classes, both held in the Kindel Library. 

We are seeking volunteers to help make Lower School Grandparents Day a warm and welcoming experience for our beloved grandparents by assisting with welcoming and guiding guests, event activities, and clean-up. Please sign up online to volunteer on Thursday, April 30. Parents of kindergarten students are invited to the Kindel Library on Friday, April 24, from 1:45 p.m. – 2:15 a.m. to meet with Lower School Dean of Students Tracy Whitfield and Associate Division Head Amanda Gratton to discuss some of the social and developmental changes to expect in grade 1.

On Friday, April 24, from 2:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., grade 2 students will showcase their writing from the year, and we will celebrate their hard work and creativity. Parents are invited to join us in their child's classroom.

Parents of grade 4 students are invited to attend an informational session with Middle School Division Head Jenn McDonough and Middle School Dean of Students Daniel Bates on Wednesday, April 22, from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. in the Kindel Library. The session will provide an overview of the Middle School journey and what families can expect in the upcoming school year, including expectations around class placement and math placement as students transition between divisions.

Parents of students in grades K – 3 are invited to join Division Head Kristen Gephart and Associate Division Head Amanda Gratton on Monday, April 27, from 8:45 a.m. – 9:45 a.m., in the Kindel Library for an in-depth look at math placement as students matriculate to grades 1 – 4.

Parents of current P4/P5 students entering kindergarten at Bear Creek next fall should plan to attend one of our orientation events on either Thursday, April 16, or Monday, April 20, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., in the Main building at Redmond Campus (8905 208th Ave. NE, Redmond). Learn about the Bear Creek experience and discover helpful resources for a smooth transition to kindergarten. Parents will receive information about our program, school uniforms, pick-up and drop-off, and much more. Please RSVP.

Preschool students are encouraged to wear their grade-level shirts as follows: P3 2-day and P4 classes on Thursday, April 16, and P3 3-day and P5 classes on Friday, April 17.

Congratulations to the boys basketball team on their strong performance at the WIAA 1A State Basketball Championships March 4 – 7, where they earned a sixth-place finish and secured Bear Creek’s first 1A state basketball trophy. Special recognition to junior Conner Jensen, who was named to the 1A State All‑Tournament First Team for his outstanding performance.
