School Closure and Emergency Information
If the school is closed, delayed, or dismissed early due to weather, power outage, or any other emergency situation, the news will be disseminated in some or all of the following ways:
- A pop-up notice on our website
- Text message*
- Local radio and television news stations
- The voice message on the school voicemail system (if power and Internet services are available)
Parents, faculty, staff, and Upper School students will receive emergency notifications via email and text message to the email address and mobile number listed in your Household Profile. Text messages will be sent from 844-423-4350; you may add this number to your contact information for The Bear Creek School.
Ensure that your cell phone number and email address (as well as that of your spouse and children in grades 9 and up) are listed correctly in your Household Profile on the Parent Portal. Go to MyBC/Parents, click the Parent Portal link, then log in to review and update your profile, if necessary.
Faculty and Staff
Ensure that your cell phone number and email address are listed correctly in your Household Profile on the Faculty Portal or in Axiom (see MyBC/Faculty-Staff for links). If you don't have a Veracross account, ask your supervisor for assistance.
If school is delayed, then preschool and 2/3-kindergarten M/W/F classes are cancelled. Full-day K – 12 classes start at 10:00 a.m. Drop off begins at 9:40 a.m.
The school has adopted a learning plan to ensure students stay on track to meet class objectives if school is closed for three or more consecutive days.
