School Closure and Emergency Information

Notification
If the school is closed, delayed, or dismissed early due to weather, power outage, or any other emergency situation, the news will be disseminated in some or all of the following ways:
- A pop-up notice on our website
- Text message*
- Email*
- FlashAlert**
- Local radio and television news stations
- The voice message on the school voicemail system (if power and Internet services are available)
*The school will send emergency notifications via email and SMS text message to parents, faculty, staff, and Upper School students using the email address and mobile number listed in your Household Profile. Text messages will be sent from 844-423-4350; you may add this number to your contact information for The Bear Creek School.
**FlashAlert is a service used statewide by schools to notify the media of school closures and delays. Subscribers will receive an email with an abbreviated version of the information sent out directly from the school.
Parents
Ensure that your mobile phone number and email address (as well as that of your spouse and children in grades 9 and up) are listed correctly in your Household Profile on the Parent Portal. Log in to review and update your profile, if necessary.
Faculty and Staff
Ensure that your mobile phone number and email address are listed correctly in your Household Profile on the Faculty Portal (click Update Faculty Profile) or in Axiom. If you don't have a Veracross account, ask your supervisor for assistance.
Delayed Start
If school is delayed, then preschool classes are cancelled. K – 12 classes start at 10:00 a.m., with drop-off beginning at 9:40 a.m.
School Closure
The school has adopted a learning plan to ensure students stay on track to meet class objectives if school is closed for three or more consecutive days.
