John Hayes and the Bear Creek Boys Golf Team Win Two 1A State Golf Championships

Congratulations to senior John Hayes and the Bear Creek boys golf team for winning two WIAA 1A State Golf Championships on Wednesday at Liberty Lake Golf Course in Spokane. Among the top 80 golfers in 1A, the Grizzlies came out on top. John finished day one at the top of the leaderboard after shooting a 1 under 69. John was able to hold off the competitors on Wednesday, shooting even par for a total score of 139 which was good enough to earn himself an individual state title. Junior Oliver Nordberg also had a spectacular tournament shooting a final round of 68 (the lowest round at State by any golfer) while finishing with 146 points in 4th place. Together, John and Oliver amassed 88 team points and finished just ahead of Seattle Academy for a first place team championship. John finishes his Bear Creek career with multiple league titles, bi-district championships, and now an individual and team state championship. John will be heading to California Baptist University to play golf for the Lancers. Oliver meanwhile will stick around for his senior season and hopefully lead the Grizzlies back to state next year. Congratulations John, Oliver, and Coach Faris on your amazing championships!
