Student Life and Co-Curricular Activities

Patrick Carruth, President and Headmaster

Chapel: In order to continue the spiritual nurture and development of our students, Chapel will occur in smaller cohorts and House groups, as well as virtually by grade and/or division.

Athletics: Decisions about Upper School sports are governed by the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), which has shifted the athletics year to a four season model for 2020 – 2021. Instead of the three traditional seasons (fall, winter, spring), the state will operate this year using a four-season schedule. The Emerald Sound Conference is not utilizing Season 1, so athletic programs are suspended until the winter season, beginning in late December. More information may be found here

Events and Activities: In-person events and activities will continue to be reviewed to ensure they meet current health, safety, and size requirements. Events that exceed the guidelines may be scheduled virtually.

Social and Emotional Well-being: During the school year, the Student Life teams in each division (Division Head, Dean, Counselor, School Nurse) meet regularly to identify individual students who need additional support. We will continue these weekly meetings, and the Student Life teams will continue to care for the social, emotional, and spiritual needs of students and will train teachers to help identify students needing support. Additionally, we have increased our counselor hours available to help with additional needs that may arise.
