Calling all student-authors in grades 5 – 8 (and their parents)! Come participate in Bear Creek’s second annual poetry slam night. At this interactive event, all participants can cycle through various poetry exploration and creation stations. Come learn about both classical poets and newer voices to the field, learn about the American poet laureates, and explore new forms such as golden shovel poetry, blackout poetry, free verse, villanelles, sestinas, and tanka poetry.
After our poetry exploration and creation, all participants will be invited to read their poetry out loud in a poetry slam-style event. Not sure you are ready to read your own poem out to the world? Don’t worry, we’ll also have space for reading your favorite poems by other people out loud! Come and share in the beauty of language and poetry as we enjoy this special evening together.
Please RSVP by October 7 to let us know you can attend!
