Third Bear Creek Student-Athlete Signs National Letter of Intent
Sini Fernandez, Communications Manager

On April 29, 2022, Bear Creek senior Aaron Moore participated in a ceremonial signing of his National Letter of Intent, indicating his intent to play golf next fall for California Lutheran University. Last fall, Tess Bumiller and Zoe Smith also signed letters of intent to play softball for Utah State and volleyball for Central Christian College, respectively.

Aaron has attended Bear Creek since grade 7, but his love for golf started at a much younger age. According to Aaron, it was about the time he could walk. As a toddler, he would rather watch golf than cartoons. He started with a plastic set of clubs before graduating to his first full set shortly before his seventh birthday. With that set, he began taking lessons and started winning just about every tournament he entered. Of course, Aaron grew up and he continued to play at a high level pouring countless hours into practicing and improving. During his freshman year, Aaron broke the elusive 80 score for the first time and helped lead the Grizzlies to a fifth-place finish at State. As a sophomore and junior, his season was cut short by the regulations surrounding COVID-19.

This fall, during Aaron’s senior season, he shot under par on multiple occasions helping him earn WIAA Athlete of the Week recognition. The ending of that story is still to be written as Aaron looks to lead the Grizzlies into the postseason over the next few weeks. This year, outside of Bear Creek, Aaron has played in junior tournaments including a recent event at Newcastle Golf Club where he came from eight strokes down on the second day to win with a birdie putt on the first playoff hole.

All the practice, tournaments, and great shots have led to Aaron signing his Letter of Intent to play golf next fall at Cal Lutheran University. Aaron is excited to join the Kingsmen where he will continue his golf journey.

Mike Faris, varsity golf head coach, says, “We are extremely proud of Aaron, not just for what he accomplished on the golf course, but for who he has become during his time at Bear Creek. I am thrilled for you to continue your career through college and wish you the very best experience.”
