Commencement Exercises on June 9
All are invited to the Class of 2018 Commencement Exercises on Saturday, June 9 at Bellevue Presbyterian Church. Pick up tickets beginning May 15 in the main office at any of our buildings.

Moms in Prayer on May 16
All moms desiring to pray for our children, teachers, and school are invited on Wednesday morning, May 16 from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM in the Valley Campus Parent Lounge (Room 2).

Authors & Artists on May 24
Don't miss Bear Creek's annual showcase of visual, literary, and performing art from preschool through grade 12 in both buildings at Redmond Campus on Thursday, May 24 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Learn more about the event.

All library materials checked out to students and parents are due on Friday, June 1 so we can complete the annual inventory of our collection.

2017-2018 Yearbooks
It is not too late to place a yearbook order! Check your account online to determine if you already ordered a yearbook for your child (see Billing Account button on new Parent Portal). Read more for details how to check your account.

AP Exams in May
Regular AP Exams are administered May 7-18. On exam day, students must arrive at the exam location (see School Calendar) 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of their exams (no later than 7:45 AM or 11:45 AM). Read more for important details.

Grand Canyon University Visits on May 29
Parents and students are welcome to learn about how affordable GCU can be on Tuesday, May 29, 12:05 PM - 12:35 PM, in the Nagel Commons.

Summer Camp: Counselor-in-Training Applications Due May 11
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program needs students entering grades 9-12. Students can earn community service hours which may count toward the 100-hour Upper School community service graduation requirement. All submissions should be completed electronically using the fillable application and sent via email no later than Friday, May 11. Read more for application and additional details.

SAT and ACT Practice Tests on June 12-13
Middle School and Upper School students may register for a complimentary SAT and ACT practice test administered at school in June by Compass Education Group, an independent test preparation company.

Senior Families RSVP for An Evening of Honors
An Evening of Honors for seniors and their families will be held on June 8 at 7:00 PM. Please RSVP by May 11.

LWSD Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival
Nine Bear Creek students performed for adjudication at the LWSD Middle School Solo and Ensemble Festival on April 21. Forming two duets and a quintet, the students all received Superior ratings from their adjudicators. Congratulations to Tobias V., grade 6, Harry D., grade 6, Omo A., grade 8, Beatrice A., grade 8, Thad N., grade 8, Rachel C., grade 8, Carly P., grade 8, Sara B. grade 6, and Sophia B. grade 6.

Preschool News

Playground Picnics on May 17 and 18
Join us for a picnic on the playground after school (or after Cubs Club)! Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket and get to know other families while the children play.

Parent Partner Program on Wednesdays
Come join other parents to support one another on the parenting journey. We gather weekly on Wednesdays at 11:45 AM in the Parent Lounge. Topics vary depending upon specific needs expressed by the parents in attendance.

Track & Field Results
At the Emerald City/Nisqually League Meet on May 4, the Grizzlies set two new school records as they prepared for this week's League Championship Meet. Top-3 finishers were:
  • Junior Olivia Markezich, first place, 800M (2:19.43) - PR and new school record
  • Sophomore Brielle Baker, first place, long jump (15-11.50)
  • Junior Andrea Markezich, second place, 800M (2:21.07) - PR
  • Junior Haley Jones, second place, shot put (25-03.00)

Growls Baseball Results
After clinching their sixth consecutive Emerald City League Championship last week, the Growls' season came to an abrupt end on May 5. Bear Creek/Overlake lost to both Lynden Christian (1-3) and Nooksack Valley (0-2) in the Bi-District Tournament.

Girls Tennis Results
Bear Creek lost to Bush (0-5) on May 2.
