Early Dismissal and Main Offices Close Early on April 27
The family of Bill MacKenney, our beloved Upper School math teacher, has invited everyone to remember and celebrate his life on Friday, April 27 at 2:00 PM at Westminster Chapel in Bellevue. K-6 students will be dismissed at 11:40 AM, and 7-12 students will be dismissed at 12:05 PM. The main offices in both buildings at Redmond Campus will close at 12:20 PM.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast Opens This Weekend
Do you have a ticket to Bear Creek's production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast on April 20, 21, or 28 in the new Performing Arts Center? Tickets are selling quickly, and seating is limited. Purchase your tickets online ($5 students, $10 adults) at www.tbcs.org/beauty.

Spring Tailgate Next Tuesday
Come out to Marymoor Park to support our spring sports teams at the Spring Tailgate on Tuesday, April 24. Park in Lot K. Boys baseball and boys soccer teams play at 3:30 PM; girls tennis team plays at 4:30 PM. Read more for details.

Register for Bear Creek Summer Camp
We are offering some fun arts and crafts camps, including Theater Fun, Photoshop, 3D Printing, Princess and Superhero camps, as well as three exciting camps from Smart with Art. Register your child at www.tbcs.org/summer.

Bear Creek Prays on April 26
Join Bear Creek parents for a time of prayer for the school, students, teachers, administrators, and/or specific needs next Thursday, April 26, 8:30 AM - 8:50 AM, in the Little Kitchen in the southwest corner of the Main Commons.

Dads BBQ Dinner with the Headmaster on May 9
Bear Creek dads, please RSVP and join President and Headmaster Patrick Carruth for a delicious BBQ dinner and a time of casual conversation in the Farmhouse at Redmond Campus on Wednesday, May 9 at 5:30 PM.

Bear Creek Preschool Celebrates 10 Years

Upper School News

2018 Congressional Art Competition Exhibitors
Six Upper School students entered the 2018 Congressional Art Competition, and their artwork is on exhibited at the VALA Arts Center in Redmond. On April 30, Congressman Suzanne DelBene will host a reception to personally congratulate the artists and the winner of the juried competition. Click for slideshow of art!

Fall and Winter Sports Interest Meetings on April 24 and 25
Students in grades 9-11 interested in playing an Upper School winter sport (boys and girls basketball, and cheer) should attend an interest meeting on Tuesday, April 24. Students interested in playing an Upper School fall sport (boys and girls cross country, boys golf, girls soccer, boys tennis, and volleyball) should attend an interest meeting on Wednesday, April 25. Both meetings will be held at 12:05 PM in Upper School classrooms.

Bear Creek Athletics Banquet Next Friday
On Friday, April 27, our 2017-2018 Grizzlies sports teams and athletes will be recognized and honored at the annual Athletics Banquet. There are still a few tickets available online at tbcs.org/athleticsbanquet. Sponsored by the Grizzlies Booster Club.

Advice for the College Launch on May 9
Parents of seniors, please RSVP online at www.tbcs.org/launch for a Parents of Alumni Committee panel presentation about graduation and launching to college at 7:30 AM in the Farmhouse.

Northwest University Concurrent Credit Presentation on May 2
Upper School parents and students are invited to meet with Joan Tate, Lead Enrollment Counselor at Northwest University, on Wednesday, May 2 at 8:10 AM in the Andrea Lairson Library to learn about their Concurrent Credit Program and the new partnership with Bear Creek. Please RSVP.

Summer Camp: Counselor-in-Training Applications Due May 11
The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program needs students entering grades 9-12. Students can earn community service hours which may count toward the 100-hour Upper School community service graduation requirement. All submissions should be completed electronically using the fillable application and sent via email no later than Friday, May 11. Read more for application and additional details.

SAT and ACT Practice Tests on June 12-13
Middle School and Upper School students may register for a complimentary SAT and ACT practice test administered at school in June by Compass Education Group, an independent test preparation company.

Senior Families RSVP for An Evening of Honors
An Evening of Honors for seniors and their families will be held on June 8 at 7:00 PM. Please RSVP by May 11.

Growls Baseball Results
On April 18, the Bear Creek/Overlake baseball team defeated Bellevue Christian (3-1).

Boys Soccer Results
On April 10, Bear Creek lost to Bush (0-7). On April 11, Bear Creek lost to Bellevue Christian (0-3). On April 14, Bear Creek lost to Seattle Academy (0-4). On April 16, the Grizzlies lost to Bush (2-9). On April 18, Bear Creek lost to Overlake.

Girls Tennis Results
On April 18, the girls tennis team lost to Overlake (0-5).

Track & Field Results
At the Add It Up Invite on April 14 in Tacoma, junior Brielle Baker placed fifth in the long jump (15-08) and senior Ian Levasseur placed fifth in the 400M (53:04). At the Pasco Invitational, also on April 14, junior Andrea Markezich placed second in the 1600M (5:11.80) and junior Olivia Markezich placed fifth in the mile (5:07.96) and set a personal record.
