Bear Creek Preschool
Dear Parents,

Hope: Confident expectation. Anticipation. Faith. During the season of advent, our hearts are full of hope. We confidently expect the sun to rise every morning, each time moving us a day closer to December 25. Our taste buds anticipate the sweet treats in store. We have faith that the perfect gift will be wrapped up under the tree on Christmas morning. Civilized grown-ups have learned to keep their anticipation bottled up inside, but in young children the excitement is palpable. As the day grows nearer you can see visible evidence of hope bubbling over through big smiles, giggles, constant chatter, maybe even actual jumping up and down. But the advent season of hopeful waiting is only a picture that points us to the vast hope we know in Christ. Having recently lost my mom, this big hope, the confident expectation that God is real and God is good, that He has come and will come again to bring restoration to a broken world, that He will triumph over death and sorrow, this is a hope close to my heart this Christmas season. Jesus, born in Bethlehem, came to earth to redeem, to bring love, joy, peace, comfort, and hope to His people. I am deeply grateful for the promises we have as followers of Christ and for the opportunity to celebrate together as a community this Christmas season.

Christmas at Bear Creek
We look forward to celebrating Christmas at Bear Creek with you and your children on Tuesday evening, December 12, at 6:00 p.m. in the brand new Performing Arts Center at the Upper School Building. (8525 208th Ave. NE, Redmond). Please arrive with your child at 5:45 p.m. Parking is limited at the Upper School Building, but additional parking is available at the Main Building (8905 208th Ave. NE, Redmond). There is a lighted pathway connecting the two buildings, and golf cart assistance is available if needed. Links for sharing photos and video (Livestream) were included in last Friday's issue of The Bear Facts.

Preference Forms
If you have not already done so, please remember to submit your preferred placement for your child in the 2018-2019 school year. Preference information is needed prior to reenrollment so that your child's 2017-2018 enrollment contract can be customized according to your wishes. Preference forms are due today, December 4.

Passport to Discovery Day: P4 and P5
Mark your calendars for this wonderful field trip on Wednesday, January 17. Instead of bringing your child to Valley Campus for his or her regular class, you will attend class together from 8:55 a.m. - 11:20 a.m. in the Main Building at Redmond Campus (8905 208th Ave. NE). P4 and P5 students will have the opportunity to rotate through science, library, art, and music kindergarten specialist classes. Students will conduct a science experiment with worms, listen to a story, create an art piece, and dance and sing. Your child will go from class to class with you to receive stamps in a passport. This will serve as our entire classroom time for this day.

Dads and Donuts
All Bear Creek Preschool dads are invited to visit their children's classrooms on Tuesday, January 23 or Wednesday, January 24. Watch for communication from the teachers for times and details specific to your child's class. We hope you can join us for this special event!

Preparing for Kindergarten
Join us on Wednesday, February 7 at 8:50 a.m. for our next Parenting Topics and Tips event. At this free and informative talk, you will hear from our V.P. for Academic Affairs Karen Blankenbeckler about preparing your child for kindergarten. She will share ideas for encouraging growth at home physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Discover and identify key components that help you know that your child is kindergarten-ready. These events are open to all, so please feel free to invite your friends and relatives who may be interested in this topic.

May you be filled with hope this Christmas season!
