Grade 7 Marine Science Afloat Field Trip on April 12

Grade 7 Marine Science Afloat Field Trip on April 12

Dear Parents,

On Friday, April 12, grade 7 students will board the Pacific Marine Research (PMR) floating classroom, Spirit of 76, and enjoy the hands-on experience of exploring the Puget Sound. As you help your child prepare, please note the following:

  • The buses will leave school promptly at 8:10 a.m. They will be waiting at the front entrance, and students may start to board at 8:00 a.m.
  • Students will return to school by 2:55 p.m.

What to Bring:

  • Students should dress for the weather and bring layers. It is cold on the water, and students will be outside for portions of the day, rain or shine. If rain is in the forecast, please send your child with a waterproof, hooded jacket. If it is a sunny day, sunscreen and a hat is advisable.
  • For safety, PMR requests that all passengers wear soft-soled, non-slip shoes on the boat.
  • Each student should bring his or her own brown bag lunch and water bottle; PMR does not provide food or beverages for passengers; Bear Creek will provide snacks and water refills. If your child has food allergies, please provide a snack for him or her.
  • Space is limited on board the boat. Only small backpacks are permitted.

Waivers: Each grade 7 student must submit two signed waivers to Mrs. Willard in the Middle School office.

We are looking forward to a fun and educational experience on the beautiful Puget Sound. If you have any questions regarding this field trip, please email janice.white@tbcs.org.

Take care,
