Dear Parents,

I hope you are having a wonderful summer filled with relaxation, fun, sunshine, and sweet times with family and friends! Teachers returned to campus today and are busily setting up classrooms, connecting with one another, and preparing their hearts and minds to receive your children in a few short weeks. The Preschool program continues to grow, and we are once again breaking records with our enrollment numbers. Read on for more information about programs and services, as well as reminders of important upcoming dates. This is going to be a great year!

Preschool Back to School Social
These events for all Preschool students and their families are held in your child's classroom on Thursday, September 6 and provide an opportunity for students to meet teachers, visit classrooms, and meet classmates.

  • P5 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
  • P4 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
  • P3 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.

Teacher/Student One-on-Ones
We care about getting to know your child as an individual. During the week of September 4, teachers will schedule a time to meet with you and your child in order to assist with the transition to a new classroom. These events are also a good opportunity to drop off school supplies. Your child's teacher will email you this week to set up this one-on-one time in the classroom. Class lists are posted in the Preschool Summer Resources tab on the MyBC/Parents page.

First Day of School
Preschool starts on Monday, September 10 for three-day P3 students, P4, and P5 classes. Two-day P3 students begin on Tuesday, September 11.

In order to help the students with their transition to school, our first day for P3 students will be "Practice Preschool." Parents of P3 students should plan to attend class with their children from 8:45 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. when class will be dismissed. On Wednesday (for three-day P3) or Thursday (for two-day P3) students will attend without parents and pick-up will be at the regular 11:45 a.m. time.

Cubs Club programs will begin the week of September 17.

Cubs Club
There is still space available in many of our Cubs Club sessions. Classes are taught at Valley Campus and include Lunch Bunch Music and Movement, Dance Discovery, Gymnastics, Spanish, Sprout with Art, and Redwine Soccer. Cubs Club classes run from 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., and students are given a snack at the beginning of class. For more information or to register, visit the Cubs Club page on our school website.

Drop-off and Pick-up
When arriving on campus, parents should plan to park and walk their children to the classroom, signing them in upon arrival. Classrooms will open at 8:40 a.m. each morning. The gate will open at 8:30 a.m., and you are welcome to enter campus early to take your child to the Library or Little Gym. Parents will need to supervise their own children and assist them in cleaning up by following posted instructions. The Parent Lounge (Room 2) is also available each morning, and parents are invited to use that space at any time.

When picking up at 11:45 a.m. (regular class) or 12:30 p.m. (Cubs Club), parents may park and meet their children in the breezeway or wait in the carpool pick-up line. Parents who wait in line in their cars should plan to buckle their own children into car seats. Teachers will accompany students to the car, and parents may exit their cars to assist their children. We thank you for your patience. See carpool pick-up map.

Library
Parents are welcome to take their children to the Valley Campus Library before or after class. If you would like to check out books on your family account, please stop by the Preschool Office, and Mrs. Smith will assist you. When books are due, they can also be returned to the office.

Playground Picnics
Parents and students are invited to stay after school for a time of fellowship. Bring a picnic lunch and blanket and enjoy getting to know other families while children play together on our playground. The first picnics are scheduled for September 27 and 28 from 11:45 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (or come by at 12:30 p.m. if your child is enrolled in Cubs Club).

Curriculum Night
Please plan to attend Curriculum Night on Tuesday, October 2. Parents will hear from their child's teacher about the curriculum, upcoming events, and classroom information.

  • P4: 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • P5 and P3: 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Walk-a-thon
This K-6 event will be held at Redmond Ridge Park on Friday, October 5. Preschool students are not asked to participate in the fundraising portion of the event, but parents are welcome to bring their children to the park around noon (after school is dismissed) to walk the course with their classmates. Cubs Club sessions will not meet that day. Students will receive Spirit T-shirts to wear at Walk-a-thon and throughout the year. Watch for more information after school starts.

Parent Partner Program
Join other parents and support one another on the parenting journey. This year we are offering these classes once a month. They will be held in the Parent Lounge on the second Wednesday of the month during Cubs Club beginning October 10. Kellie Anderson leads this program, and each class begins with a brief presentation on a particular topic followed by discussion and Q & A. Classes are open to all, so please feel free to invite your friends and relatives who may be interested. Consider signing your child up for a Wednesday Cubs Club class if you are interested in attending.
