Practice and Game Schedule
The baseball program practices every day from 3:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. It is common to have practices and/or games scheduled on Saturdays during the season as well. After the first two weeks of the season, the team generally has games and/or practices on only five days per week, so if we play on a Saturday, we will generally take a day off during the week to help stay on top of schoolwork. The team generally schedules 18 – 20 regular season games, which are played after school. There are some exceptions to this from time to time with some games taking place on a Saturday, or possibly at an away venue in the evening. Home games usually start at 3:30 p.m. and are played at Marymoor Park. Away games usually involve early dismissals from class as we travel to games. See calendar (above).
Transportation is required to all practices, home games, and away games. For practices and home games, Bear Creek players are responsible for their own transportation to Marymoor Park, either by parent or student driver carpool. For away games, Bear Creek players travel by parent or student driver carpool to the Overlake campus, from which transportation to the away game is provided, and the expectation is that students will travel together to all away games on the bus. Students are not allowed to drive their own vehicles or arrange their own transportation to away games.
Uniform, Gear, and Equipment
Required equipment includes glove, bats, shoes, and other safety equipment. The team plays games on both grass fields and field turf. Most players wear turf shoes or plastic cleats on turf fields and metal spikes on grass fields. All new players receive practice gear which may include cap, pants, long and short sleeve shirts, and hooded sweatshirts, which can be used throughout their entire high school career. Students will be issued green and white uniform jerseys, a team jacket, and an equipment bag which must be returned at the end of the season.
Out of Season Activities
The baseball program does not currently participate in official out of season activities. We encourage players to sign up and play baseball out of season through the various select-level club programs in the region.
