Lower School Arts Program
Art, grades K-6
All classes meet bi-monthly with an art specialist and follow a structured curriculum which introduces visual art concepts such as color, tint, tone, shade, texture, line, shape, and space, while carefully observing God’s creation.
Art Docent/Art History, grades K-4
Parent volunteers teach this monthly, following a curriculum that enhances the classroom curriculum while introducing renowned artists and techniques to students.
Drama, grades K, 1, 2, 4
Grade 2 students start off the school year by presenting a puppet show, then students in grade 1 perform a Thanksgiving drama, and in kindergarten, students perform a play for their schoolmates in the spring. In the winter, students in grades 4 perform Shakespeare for their families and friends. The Bear Creek School's Shakespeare Immersion Program was recognized as an Exemplary School Program by Christian School Education magazine. All Lower School students attend the dress rehearsals for every production.
Music, grades K-4
All classes meet bi-weekly with a music specialist with culminating vocal performances at Christmas and Mothers Tea in May.
Recorder, grades 3-4
As part of the general music curriculum, all students in grades 3 and 4 learn to read music and play the recorder. For some students, this is their first experience playing a musical instrument.
