About Our Trip Leaders:

Madame Graves is excited to lead Bear Creek’s French students on an immersive cultural experience to France. Her travels have taken her to five continents and dozens of countries, but France has her heart. She has lived in France and explored nearly every corner of the “Hexagon.” As a French teacher, she has led several student trips to France that have ranged from short forays to more extensive homestay experiences. She delights in seeing the culture come alive for students and those moments when students connect the language learning in the classroom with living language experiences in real time. She is excited to guide students to encounter the many facets of French culture from its art and architecture to its history and transportation, from its food and shopping to its cities and countryside.

Mr. Norris has been teaching at Bear Creek for nineteen years and serves as the English Department Chair. His son Thad graduated in 2022, and his daughter Rory is currently a junior. He has chaperoned several trips abroad, including an immersion trip to France and a mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

He is looking forward to this trip, especially the various stops in Normandy. Perhaps he will even get a chance to practice his very rudimentary French on patient native speakers.
