Middle School
Welcome to Grades 7 and 8!
The Middle School years are predictably unpredictable, which makes working with 7th and 8th graders a unique and wonderful experience. Our goal at Bear Creek is to embrace students at their own level, acknowledging the uniqueness of the Middle School years, while nurturing them to become the people God intends. This important period in a student's life can be one of great excitement and discovery.
At the heart of our Middle School are teachers with diverse interests and backgrounds, who share three things in common: they are passionate about students, passionate about their subject area, and, most importantly, passionate about their relationship with God. Our small class sizes permit individualized attention from the teachers, which means that students feel both challenged and cared for at the same time.
The Middle School years are sometimes referred to as the 'Logic' or 'Dialectic' stage of learning within the Classical Trivium. This is the time when students begin to question, argue and debate. Our desire in the Middle School is to harness the student's natural enthusiasm for argumentation and allow them to develop critical thinking skills. It's an exciting stage in a child's development and a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn how to 'think rightly' about the issues and questions they face.
Outside of the classroom, there are numerous opportunities for the students to get to know one another and have fun. Memorable moments include Icebreaker, Class Parties, ASB Socials and the annual 8th grade Retreat. We also have after-school clubs as well as a thriving athletic program, which the vast majority of students are involved with. With a weekly advisory program, chapel and community service opportunities, students have the opportunity to grow in mind, body and spirit.
We hope you enjoy browsing these web pages and finding out more about what makes the Middle School unique.
Sincerely,
