Office Hours on January 15 and 19
The school is closed on Monday, January 15 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. On Friday, January 19 during the Teacher In-Service, the offices in the Main Building and Upper School Building will be open from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM; the office at Valley Campus will be closed.

Auction Procurement Forms Due February 2

We are counting on each family to procure an item with a value of at least $150 for Auction 2018 to be successful. You can easily drop off your procurement form or donation in the auction office at the Farmhouse on the north side of Redmond Campus.

Phiona Mutesi to Speak at Upper School Chapel on January 17
Chess champion and Northwest University student Phiona Mutesi will speak at Chapel on Wednesday, January, 17, 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM, in the Performing Arts Center. Parents are welcome to attend. Phiona's life is the subject of a book and Disney movie; read this Guardian article to learn more about her.
Spring Sports Interest Meetings on January 17
Upper School spring sports include boys baseball, boys soccer, girls tennis, and track & field. Coaches will hold interest/informational meetings on Wednesday, January 17 during Upper School lunch. All students interested in participating need to attend.
Staying on Track: College Planning for Juniors and Parents on January 24
On Wednesday, January 24, 8:10 AM - 8:50 AM, in the Andrea Lairson Library, juniors and their parents will learn about the important and required tasks that must be completed in Family Connection before the end of the year.
Essay Writing Exercise for Juniors on January 31
On Wednesday, January 31, 8:10 AM to 9:00 AM, in US Room 207, Ms. Carhart and writing coach Reisha Colton will meet with juniors to work on an essay writing exercise.

Middle School and Upper School fall semester (semester 1) report cards are posted on the parent and student portals (Veracross). Report cards will not be mailed out, but can be downloaded from the portals.
Upper School Division Head Connection on February 8
Parents of students in grades 9-11 are invited to join Patrick Carruth and new faculty members history teacher Laura Wilson and visual arts teacher Brittany Plourde in the Andrea Lairson Library on Thursday, February 8, 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM. Academic Advisor Emily Schuldt will also be there to discuss course planning and registration.
Senior Blast Forms Due February 5
The senior class will travel to Leavenworth and stay at Sleeping Lady Resort on March 5 and 6. All forms are due February 5 including the waiver (required), dietary needs form, and the authorization to self-administer medication. Please submit the forms to the Upper School main office. If you have questions, please contact Upper School Assistant Debbie Stump at dstump@tbcs.org.

Bear Creek's Adopt-a-Grizzly program pairs each K-6 class with 2-3 varsity or JV basketball players or cheerleaders. Students and their families are encouraged to attend the home basketball games on Friday, February 2 to cheer on their adopted athletes!

Grizzlies Athletics
Girls Basketball Results
On January 5, Bear Creek lost to Northwest (31-51). Seniors Delaney Montgomery and Alyson Wong scored 14 and 11 points respectively. On January 9, Bear Creek defeated Forest Ridge (49-26). Wong and senior Ashley Cowman scored 18 and 9 points respectively.
Boys Basketball Results
On January 5, the boys basketball team lost to Northwest (42-53). Junior Trevor McRae scored 25 points, and sophomore Jace Blankenbeckler scored 11 points. On January 8, Bear Creek defeated Seattle Academy at the buzzer (53-51). McRae shot for 21 points, and Blankenbecker for 19 more.
