Are you interested in hosting a student from another country? Each year, Bear Creek enrolls between 15-20 international students in Upper School, and about half of these students need to live with local host families. If you are interested in hosting a Bear Creek international student and helping them adjust to Bear Creek and to the U.S., please contact Emily Schuldt at eschuldt@tbcs.org or 425-898-1720 ext. 433. Though Bear Creek does not arrange or manage host families for our international students, Emily can put interested families in touch with a private homestay agency that connects international students with local host families. The hosting commitment is compensated at $1,000 per month. New host families are needed for the upcoming school year, as well as for the remainder of the current school year.

Is your preteen showing signs of puberty? Growth spurt? Smelly feet? Roller coaster emotions? Perhaps your preteen is asking you questions about his or her rapidly changing body but you're not quite sure how to answer?

Join us tomorrow Saturday, March 15, for a Guide to Growing Up, presented by the Bear Creek health team. This class will help your child understand the how, when, and why of puberty and assist you in answering the many questions your child may have. Print and complete the registration form for the Parent/Daughter or Parent/Son class, and bring it with you on Saturday. Questions? Contact Angela Burch (aburch@tbcs.org) for additional information.

You've probably heard about the new building, but do you know how it will affect Valley Campus and your student? Find out on Tuesday, March 18, at 2:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room. Director of Philanthropy Debbie Marchione will give a short, informal presentation and answer your questions about the new Upper School and Fine & Performing Arts Center and the REACH UP Campaign.

Have you ordered a yearbook for your child? There are still many Lower School students who have not. Families may still order a 2013-2014 yearbook. Complete the order form and submit with the payment in the main office at either Redmond Campus or Valley Campus by Friday, March 28. Contact Kathleen Lewis (klewis@tbcs.org) in accounts receivable if you have questions about your child's yearbook order.

Coming soon... Bear Creek's only four wheel party! The annual PTF-sponsored Skate Party will be held Friday, March 28 from 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM at Skate King. The signed waiver is your student's ticket in the door (also look for it in his or her backpack on Monday).

Grades 4-6 students are invited to bring their lunches (hot lunch or sack lunch) and join in the fun of discussing the "Battle" books, quizzing one another, and getting to know everyone who is planning to participate in Battle of the Books on April 17. Battle lunches are held in the library - on Mondays at Redmond Campus and on Thursdays at Valley Campus. Go to tbcs.org/battleofthebooks for specific dates and more information.

Early Childhood News
